Some Context to Live Nation’s Strategic Change re: Ticketmaster
Some have suggested that a declining share/stock price and market cautiousness have caused some refocussing at LiveNation. One very logical initiative is that Live Nation would try and extricate itself from an exclusive ticketing contract with Ticketmaster to arrest this drain on revenue, let alone regain control of the relationship with its customers.
Presentations at the 2007 Investor and Analyst Conference on 15 Nov 07 showed that Live Nation in 2006 squeezed just 4.2% operating profit out of revenue of $3.7 billion. That profit was earned from parking fees, sponsorships, beer sales and a cut of the service charges imposed by Ticketmaster.
